OBJECTIVES: To provide support and technological resources for under served populations, specially the young segment of society, in order to redefine educational process and cultural values.
SCOPE OF MILENIO
Proper education should be the basis of any society that expects to grow and develop properly, we should realize that societies as human creatures are in a large percentage the result of their environment, what we learn from that environment defines who we may be. The Milenio Project considers that, same as individuals, nations should focus in proper education, not as a copy of educational process in developed countries but as the logical, planned and proper implementation of educational techniques and process that allow individuals to be aware of the elements that affect them, their environment and those mental process and social skills that would allow them to achieve goals as well.
OUR VISION
A great challenge for poor nations laid ahead, facing an ever increasing development of technology in industrialized countries, while a lot of good and willing to help organizations and people jump in the wagon of technology as a way to improve peoples lives and societies, this may not be the right solution and it may end up harming those that are target to be helped. Technology as it is today is proper of cultures and societies that depend and produce them as part of a social and economical evolutionary process, examples of failures of technology assimilation are the implementation of farm machinery for more than 30 years in Latin American countries with no positive result in economical improvement. Nicaragua, one of the wealthiest Central American countries on the late 70’s failed to come out of a deep level of poverty and misery since the middle 1970.
The Milenio Project envision the development and implementation of education through the proper institutions, which should be reinforced and improved up to the international standards for education, while resource centers (Milenio Centers) and clubs should be implements as part of a base support in order to develop after school programs, adult education and social and cognitive skills.
HAYF believes that by providing access to education tools and facilitating economic integration to entrepreneurs, professionals and students, the possibilities for business development and education are endless.
MILENIO is a three phase project:
I. Analysis of the geographical area where it will be implemented II. Development III. Transfer to community control and monitoring outcome.
MILENIO pilot project gathers data about society behavior, language assimilation, and the impact of technology in children, young and adult population. This data will be used to develop new and better programs.
